The upcoming March 9th-10th conference, "'Who Belongs?' From Tribal Kinship to Native Nation Citizenship to Disenrollment," to be held at the University of Arizona's James E. Rogers College of Law gathers attendees to explore such questions relating to citizenship and community--belonging in Indian Country. As part of the conference, NNI Executive Director Joan Timeche (Hopi) and NNI Research Director Dr. Miriam Jorgensen will moderate the March 10th Tribal Leaders forum, where Timeche noted, "Participants will have an unparalleled opportunity to explore the question 'Who belongs?'--a foundational aspect of self-governance and self-determination for Native nations and critical question for the future of any nation." Prof. Robert Hershey, a long-time NNI collaborator, UA law professor, and the conference organizer, has expressed, "...hope that an atmosphere of respect, understanding, listening, and learning will be fostered, and that our gathering will promote utmost dignity."
